A one-hour class to start your week with movement and intention. Each week we will move through sun salutations and standing postures to warm up and build strength before exploring a group of postures from Ashtanga Primary Series. Over time you will learn techniques to make seemingly complex postures more accessible, while having fun within a welcoming, warm community.
This class is suitable for anyone curious about the possibilities that a regular yoga practice can open up. If you’ve tried classes before but have felt out of place or that you weren’t really learning anything, this may be a good starting point. You’ll begin to learn to listen to your body and trust your own inner wisdom, finding calm in an increasingly hectic world.
We always end with a short guided relaxation - such a fabulous way to begin your week.
Mysore style is the traditional method of practicing Ashtanga Yoga and is an adaptable, progressive approach that can be modified to suit students throughout the course of their lives. Students practice together in the same room but move through the sequence at their own pace, receiving individual guidance from the teacher. It’s a one-to-one class in a group setting.
The sequence of postures is taught and memorised over time, with new postures added as each student progresses. This approach builds mental clarity and focus alongside physical benefits such as increased strength and mobility.
Each class will be supported by me, with new postures taught and detail added to the postures you already know. The environment is calm, respectful, and safe.
Mysore class timings are flexible; you can arrive at any time during the two hours, as long as you have enough time to practice.
No prior knowledge of the Ashtanga sequence is required, I will teach you posture by posture (and it’s never a problem if you forget something, we all do it!).
The Mysore room is a place for self-exploration, to see and feel yourself more fully. It isn’t a space for performance or pressure, but for quietly returning to yourself over and over again. As a teacher my role is to guide you and encourage you to build an autonomous, playful practice that supports healing and growth. Everyone is welcome!
